Moustaches, Mental Health, and Making a Difference – AES Solar Does Movember!

This November, AES Solar’s Movember Campaign will raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health, while supporting the incredible work of Mikeysline.

While Movember is famous for its moustaches, it’s about so much more than facial hair. It’s a global event aimed at changing the face of men’s health, with a big emphasis also placed on men’s mental health, depression, and suicide prevention.

These issues align closely with the mission of Mikeysline, a Highland-based mental health charity, which is why we have chosen to combine AES Solar’s Movember Campaign with our fundraising efforts for the year. Together, we hope to raise awareness, encourage conversations, and contribute to lasting change for men’s mental health within our company and across our wider community.

How We’re Getting Involved

Throughout the month, our team will be getting creative (and in some cases brave) all in the name of mental health. There’ll be a range of ways for our team to get involved, even for those follicly challenged in the upper lip area! Here’s what we’ve got planned:

• Grow a moustache – our team can go classic Movember style and let their upper lip do the talking. Whether it’s The Handlebar, The Walrus, or a proud Peach Fuzz, we want to see it all.
• Take a bold leap with your hair – if their moustache game is a bit lacking, our team have the option to try a daring hairstyle, a brave shave, or another creative personal twist to show support.
• And for those up to it, they can also pledge to take part in a sponsored leg wax for a good cause!

We’ll be raising funds through our dedicated JustGiving page, and the marketing team will keep the momentum going with photos, stories, and updates on moustache milestones throughout the month. The challenge will come to a close with a live, in-person shave/waxathon, where we’ll celebrate everyone’s efforts and reveal the brave new looks!

About Mikeysline – Our Charity of the Year 2025/2026

Founded in 2015, Mikeysline is a Highland-based mental health charity providing vital support for people struggling with mental health and emotional distress. Born from tragedy, the charity was established to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide in the Highlands following the loss of two close friends within just 48 hours of each other.

Since then, Mikeysline has grown to become a lifeline for many across the region. Through their text-based support service, face-to-face sessions, and the Hive Hubs across the Highlands and Moray, Mikeysline offers safe, confidential spaces for people of all ages to seek help and be heard without fear or judgement.

Mikeysline’s work has helped to break down the stigma surrounding mental health in rural and remote communities, something we at AES are proud to support and amplify through our fundraising efforts this Movember.

Their message is simple: it’s ok not to be ok, and you don’t have to go through it alone.

Why It Matters to Us

While mental health struggles are not limited to any one group, it has a particularly stark impact on our sector. Construction has one of the highest suicide rates in the UK.

As a company working across both the construction and renewable energy sectors, we believe it’s time to have open, honest conversations. Mental health matters just as much as physical health. That’s why our partnership with Mikeysline is about more than fundraising; it’s about changing the culture and supporting real change in our industry and beyond.
