An AES Solar engineer working on an EU-funded project since 2016 with companies across Europe has explained in an interview the importance of combining that solar technologies to maximise the efficiency of power from the sun.
The Heat4Cool concept proposes innovative, efficient and cost-effective solutions to support EU energy efficiency policies. The project develops, integrates and demonstrates an easy-to-install and highly energy-efficient solution for building retrofitting.
Combine the effect of solar PV and thermal
Grant Feasey stated that the development of specification tools and software such as those utilised in HEAT4COOL are important to encourage the uptake and effective operation of well-designed energy efficient systems that combine technologies. He added that it is important for solar thermal and Solar PV to be part of this development.
In the interview, Grant says solar PV has captivated the popular market due to financial incentives, but combining the two technologies can lead to greater energy-efficiency.
