Movember has come and gone, and what a month it’s been at AES. This year we took our commitment to raising awareness and making a difference for Mikeysline to new heights…or should that be lengths!
From spectacular moustaches to dramatic cuts and an office crazy hair day that took us right back to our school days. There’s no denying November was a month of memorable looks but it was also a month of humour, bravery, creativity and generosity. Our team came together united over a shared purpose and we couldn’t be prouder of everything they brought to the challenge!
We wrapped it all up in our latest blog post, discussing all this and more – here’s a look at what went on.
Mighty Moustache Movement
Let’s start with the Movember classic – the moustaches.
Our moustache squad kicked things off in true style, with an especially strong turnout from our sales team. They opted for a mix of your traditional, more refined looks from your chevron to your horseshoe and the more down to earth “scruff” but all grown with care and showcased with pride. A very on-brand effort!
We also thought we’d include Callum’s valiant contribution which apparently is visible under a magnifying glass – or so we’ve been told! Our Installation Manager David also took part representing our Operations Team opting for a more classic style, though it’s a classic for a reason as we think it suits him brilliantly.
Not to be outshone, Campbell delivered his own unique interpretation of the Movember ’tache with a style that resembles mutton chops? His new facial hair even attended the Investors in People Awards in London! Campbell’s effort brought a lot of smiles but more importantly, played a huge part in sparking conversations and raising awareness.
Some styles were impressive, some were…more experimental, but every single one helped shine a light on an issue that matters deeply.

A Month of Creative Hairdos for the Installation Team
Out on the road, our installation team took Movember in a bold direction of their own. Before ultimately opting for the full shave, they spent the month showcasing a range of hairstyles that were impossible to ignore.

We were particularly impressed by Ryan’s reverse Mohican and Will’s more typical interpretation that looked suspiciously like the leftovers of Ryan’s style had found their way onto his head!
Their willingness to commit to the challenge captured the spirit of Movember and set the tone for the rest of the Hair Challenge. Well done guys!

Making a Difference with Bold Restyles
While Movember is traditionally associated with moustaches, this year we saw incredible commitment from the women in the team too. Hannah H opted for a bold chop for the cause, cutting an impressive 13 inches from her hair and really setting the tone for the month.

We also have to give a special spotlight to Pia, whose decision to get a short pixie cut was one of the bravest and most inspiring moments of the entire challenge. Cutting long hair into a pixie takes courage at the best of times and doing it publicly, for charity, in support of mental health, is something to be truly proud of. Her transformation was stunning, and her commitment resonated deeply with everyone across the business.
These contributions brought so much heart to the campaign making Movember more than just moustaches. Thank you both!

Crazy Hair Day in the Office
To round off the month, we brought back a primary school classic in the form of crazy hair day! Coloured streaks, 90s crimping and gravity-defying shapes took over the office for a day of brilliant chaos. From staff meetings and customer visits to navigating headsets for making calls, Crazy Hair Day was the perfect, joyful conclusion to the challenge.

Supporting Mikeysline
Of course, behind all the fun is a serious purpose. Movember is about mental health, suicide prevention, and starting conversations that can genuinely save lives.
Mikeysline embodies that mission every single day. Their text line, drop-in centres, and community outreach provide vital support to people across the Highlands and Moray who are struggling and need somewhere safe and compassionate to turn. They make a difference where it matters most. We’re incredibly proud to support them and incredibly grateful for every donation made so far.
Movember may be over now, but mental health challenges don’t disappear on December 1st. If you’re able, we’d love for you to top up our fundraising efforts and help us send an even stronger show of support to Mikeysline. Every donation makes a difference, no matter the size.
You can find our JustGiving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/aes-solar-mikeysline
Thank you to everyone who took part, donated, supported, laughed, shaved, styled, or sprayed. This was truly a team effort and one we’re incredibly proud of.
Now, let’s carry the spirit of the month with us into this festive period checking in on one another, speaking openly about mental health, and continuing to support the incredible work of Mikeysline.
