AES Solar are hiring a Technical Systems Engineer to join our growing, dynamic team in the North East of Scotland! 

AES Solar are a leading manufacturer and installer of domestic and commercial solar energy systems in Forres, Moray. Established in 1979, we were one of the first manufacturers of solar thermal collectors in Western Europe and a founder of the UK solar market, specialising in solar and storage across Scotland. Due to our continued growth and success we are hiring a Technical Systems Engineer to join the team. The main focus of this role will managing the various IT systems and software platforms used across the organisation. As there is an IT support contractor in place, in depth IT experience is not required and as such this job may be suited to a graduate.

The role will include acting the main point of contact for IT and systems, as well as project lead on any new IT and infrastructure projects (some examples being: SharePoint integration, CRM implementation, softphone rollouts and quality system continuous improvement).

As much of this role is project specific, the workload will vary from project to project. Therefore, there will be opportunities to progress into and develop in other areas in the business, such as the engineering and quality management team.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Technical Director.
  • Taking lead and project managing the development of all IT and systems projects.
  • Working with external IT support contractors to manage technical systems such as CRM, survey, design and quoting systems, SharePoint, cloud storage.
  • Assist with and implement IT solutions (hardware and software) to assist in achieving business targets.
  • Maximise and promote system utilisation by all users, providing relevant training where necessary.
  • Act as main company contact for all information systems related items.
  • Maintain documentation for all systems (hardware and software) to include all applications installed and network topology/diagrams.
  • Undertake network cabling adjustments as and when requested to ensure all PCs and peripheral devices are connected and accessible.
  • Ensure all information and technical systems processes are well documented.
  • Working with other departments to ensure quality system and intranet are well managed and kept up to date.
  • Working with technical team to update and manage design tools and technical processes.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject (computer science, engineering, electrical, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Experience
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Able to contribute to many projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Interest in renewable technologies, particularly solar energy
