AES Solar have relaunched their freephone helpline following an increase in solar scammers in Scotland.
The helpline, previously set up in 2017, has been relaunched as a result of concerning reports of scammers claiming to be AES Solar. The calls were described as rude and insistent in nature, often trying to push unnecessary maintenance works and upgrades. Other members of the public have reported being offered free batteries.
Solar Scammers
Often calling from a withheld or unknown mobile number, the company falsely claim to be associated or working on behalf of AES Solar.
In contrast, AES Solar has a strict no cold call policy and would never resort to such devious sales tactics. Instead, the company prides itself on providing customers with all the accurate information required. Customers can make an informed decision in their own time, with no in-home selling.
Red Flag
AES Solar Commercial Director Jamie Di Sotto said: “We are incredibly disheartened to see another company making the rounds trying to ruin our good reputation and that of our industry. We have relaunched our helpline as a direct response to counteract their damaging work.”
“Any reputable solar or battery installation company will be MCS certified. They will also be a member of a consumer body such as RECC (Renewable Energy Consumer Code). The forceful selling of unnecessary works and false promises of free products in this instance is a major red flag. I would therefore urge customers to be extremely wary of the unsolicited approach from these so-called solar companies.”
Reliable Industry Voice
Jamie added: “Our main concern is that people continue to be at risk to these scammers. Consequently, we have relaunched the helpline to offer free advice and help. I would encourage people to get in touch if they receive a call, no matter how small their concern or query may seem. It would also be appreciated if they could gather as much information as possible as reporting this activity will help to protect others. We are here to provide a reliable industry voice to put your mind at ease to the scaremongering and unscrupulous claims.”
